Anthony Ramos Twenty-Eight Times

Once again I must say bless Behind the Blinds magazine -- they never do anythin g half-assed. Well unless we're talking about Anthony Ramos wearing a jockstrap, which would be more "full assed" if we could see more of the goods. But the hint of it's plenty for my purposes, especially when we're talking about as the title says 28 pictures in a photoshoot! That's wonderfull full-assed in itself. And knowing them more photos might drop any minute. I suppose I should ask if any of you watched The Beauty...

... the Ryan Murphy series Ramos was on?  I can't remember if we discussed it here. I tend to be more pro Murphy than a lot of people but by the end I was not a fan of The Beauty, besides a few bits n bobs (you can't go wrong with Isabella Rossellini in over-the-top couture). But I'm pretty sure that show's already half-forgotten at this point -- but its nudity (including a great shot of Anthony' ass!) will live on, at least. Murphy never disappoints on that front, if nothing else. Okay actual conversations about substance aisde now let's hit the jump for the new photos... 

To Have and To Hold

I kind of can't believe how quickly this three-day-weekend I just had flew by -- I did have my cousin in town so that ate up my Saturday but otherwise I got very little accomplished and now I'm sitting here at my desk in a slumped-over daze wondering how, how, HOWWWW it is Monday. Anyway as threatened on Thursday my review of the dark romance The Drama did indeed drop over the weekend, so I am now updating you with a link! You can read my -- spoilery as hell -- review right here. I suppose it was a smart move by A24 to make out like this movie has a "twist" that could be "spoiled" but it's something that happens in the movie's first third and everything thereafter is fallout, so I considered it not only impossible but dumb as hell to try to write about the movie without spoiling what it's about since what's the fucking point of writing about it if I'm going to be coy? I don't see a point. I'm not here to coddle people, I'm here to talk about the fucking movie. And no I don't know why I am suddenly writing all of this in such an aggressive tone, good grief -- like I said I'm not entirely awake or entirely happy with being back at my desk already, so excuse my sudden onset of inflamed irritability. I suppose you add on that the movie really didn't work for me and whammo, short fuse.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about that first photo we posted of Phil Dunster a couple of weeks ago, as I am sure was the intent in taking such an obvious, "Hey look at my fat ass" photo, and I've come to the entirely predicatable decision that I need to see Phil Dunster in lots more things. So mission accomplished there, big buns. I guess I should start watching his new show Rooster then! Make it clear to the powers that be that Phil's powers are working. To the maximus. For now, for this Monday morning, we'll make due with this very fine Esquire photoshoot -- very fine, except we don't get to see, you know, the friend we made a couple of weeks ago. Make sure to have it written into your contract that every shoot will include one shot of the backside, Phil! Hello. How are you? Oh I am fine, thanks for asking. Covered in filth from head to toe and all my limbs are sloughing off and I have bugs in my brains but, you know, other than that just okally-dokally. So anyway I wanted to give you a heads-up that I've just gotten word down the wire [insert robot sounds here] that my IRL office will be closed tomorrow in observance of the religious holiday that my atheist ass does not celebrate. Which means... well it means that I will be sleeping in as long as humanly possible and then being a lazy-pants all the damned day long tomorrow. It is, in the poetic parlance of Mr. Bobby Brown, my prerogative. But wait! Don't go getting your knickers twisted. There will be a whiff of me, because I'll at least have a review of Robert Pattinson and Zendaya's marital drama titled The Drama landing over at my home-away-from-here Pajiba at some point during the day. See? News not all rotten. Life will find a way! Jeff Goldblum was right! Justice for Jeff Goldblum!

Bugonia (2025)

It's not torture. Torture is what it's done to us.

I know that Yorgos Lanthimos' Bugonia got four Oscar nominations -- including one for Best Picture -- but I still feel as if this movie walked out of 2025 somewhat underappreciated. Nobody really thought it was actually going to win any of those awards, after all. I think it's just that Yorgos has proven so consistently excellent and interesting and provocative that he's become a victim of his own awesomeness. Even if I, a person who put Bugonia at #8 on my favorite films of last year, were to rank his films, Bugonia would end up somewhere mid-tier. But that's all just a matter of infintesimal degrees because I am a hossana-singer for every damn one of them. And Bugonia's goddamned great. In fact, you know what, I might re-watch Bugonia this very evening in order to celebrate the birth of the great Jesse Plemons, which coincidentally is also the reason for this post. See -- I told you Bugonia was under-appreciated, because the great Jesse Plemons didn't deservedly get nominated for Best Actor for it. Four noms shoulda been five dammit! In summation go watch Bugonia yourselves and try to tell me I'm not correct on all of this. And then go buy the vinyl of Jerskin Fendrix's score too. That banger was second only to Jonny Greenwood's One Battle After Another music, if you ask me! We might not be lucky in much these days but we're lucky to have Yorgos making movies!

Kieron Moore Twenty Times

This photoshoot of actor Kieron Moore is, in internet years, fucking ancient (that's an actual measurement btw) -- it's from October! Of last year! So not Future October, but Past October. Given the way the hours work nowadays I might as well be posting from Mesopotomia here. The show Boots was, I think, not yet canceled by Netflix -- none of us even knew what a "Heated Rivalry" was yet. The literal Pentagon was instead freaking out about Boots, and so Netflix canceled it and now they've hired [rapist redacted] to head their annual comedy festival. I won't say I wish we could go back to the "simpler time" of October because JFC nobody wants to repeat the past few months, we're all just dragging our corpses through this infernal year as is. But... 

... yeah I have no "but." My point is I meant to watch Boots in the fall but I still haven't gotten to it, and I meant to post this photo-shoot once I'd watched the show, so that didn't happen. But then the trailer for Kieron Moore's forthcoming queer thriller Blue Film dropped this morning and I figured well I might as well go ahead and post these pictures now. Who knows where we'll be in six months? Who knows where we'll be in six minutes. Well I can promise you this -much, at least - for the next six seconds if you hit the jump you can be staring at Kieron Moore...

I guess that I did a lot of posts yesterday that were placeholders for today -- there was the Charlie Cox thing I just shared and now here we have the trailer for Blue Film, which I posted the poster for and said then that we'd be getting this trailer today. And here we are. Full of trailer! Blue Film stars Boots actor Kieron Moore (seen, seen, and seen again for good measure above) as a cam-boy who finds himself spending the night with an older gentlemen (Reed Birney from House of Cards) when... well I only have a vague idea of where the movie goes and I'm keeping it that way, meaning that no, I have not watched thei trailer. I scanned through it for thirty seconds to make the above gif and then stopped. Because I don't wanna know! But here, if you do, said trailer:

This is probably a story for another day but when I was a little kid my mother stole money from her job so we could have our own place after my parents split up. I only bring this up, as a throwaway anecdote no less, because I too am a criminal who does my criminal things for the right reasons -- this trait runs in the family! Because I promised you people I would have these Charlie Cox gifs for you this morning, but due to a disastrous commute and several other irritating factors that kept me running behind this morning I just went ahead and stole these gifs off of some Tumblr instead of making them my own self. Please, understand my good intentions as I have come to understand my mother! (I am so lucky my poor mother doesn't read this site lol.)   Anyway I did get around to watching the third episode of Daredevil last night and as I said on Bluesky I watched this scene three times without ever hearing a single damn word that was being spoken during it any one of those times. You remember how early on Game of Thrones became infamous for using "sexposition" to impart important information whilst furious boinking was happening on-screen? Yeah in this case it very much backfired -- my mind completely shut down in the presence of Charlie's waxen godliness. But I enjoyed watching the scene three times anyway! Would You Let Wagner Moura Drain You?

It's been eleven whole months since we heard that Mandy director Panos Cosmatos was going to make a sexy vampire movie titled Flesh of the Gods starring Oscar Isaac and Kristen Stewart -- long enough that I managed to totally forget that that sexy-sounding thing was a thing! Well it turns out the hold-up was Isaac, who's had to drop out of the project. But if you're looking at the above photo (which I know you are) then you can probably see where this is going -- yes indeed recent Oscar nominee Wagner Moura has snatched up the role! And yes okay I maybe just wandered off mentally-speaking, wondering what if it was Kristen Stewart who had dropped out and the movie was going to star Oscar & Wagner as the sexy couple instead... but let's not entertain the not-happening and instead enjoy the news that is. As I said in my post about this project last year I have mixed feelings about Mandy but there's no denying that Cosmatos is an interesting and exciting filmmaker -- I especially loved his episode of Guillermo Del Toro's horror anthology series Cabinet of Curiosities on Netflix. So if these folks wanna get together and riff on The Hunger in Cosmatos's Refn-adjacent style then I say bring it on, baby. Oh and this bit of news didn't surprise me -- A24 has boarded the movie as distributor. Has anything ever sounded more A24 than this? I can't wait for the merch! Hey Fellow Sickos!

Have I got some wild news for you! This morning on my commute to work I was innocently scrolling through my Instagram feed of friends, celebrities,  and exhibitionists, when what should the all-knowing all-seeing algorithm thrust upon me but the deranged news that for the first time since its release in 1975 the soundtrack to Pier Paolo Pasolini's anti-fascist screed Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom is getting a vinyl release! It's out on April 17th and you can pre-order it at this link -- I can't make any promises that you won't be put onto a watchlist for buying it, but we're all probably on so many watchlists, you guys. I've come to terms with that and so should you. Oh and I ordered my copy from Amazon, where the colored vinyl is red, because shipping costs are too damn much right now to affordably get this from the U.K. But if you're willing to splurge the version they have for sale at the actual U.K. website that's printing this record is colored BROWN. As seen below. That is fucking hysterical. IYKYK.

 

Regé-Jean Page Ten Times

I have never watched a single second of Bridgerton (well okay that's a lie, I did watch the clips of Jonathan Bailey mostly naked) so when I see Regé-Jean Page I think first and foremost of Steven Soderbergh's tight little thriller Black Bag from last year, in which he was pretty good! Not really the most interesting performance in the movie (Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett are right there, after all) but hot golly he's handsome, so I paid attention when he was on-screen anyway. That said he's got a rom-com with the Little Mermaid herself Halle Bailey coming out in two weeks -- it's called You, Me & Tuscany and no, I have zero desire to watch it, but good for him. A gold star for working. I know a lot of people were being annoying and rooting for the T.V. star to pull a David Caruso and fail after getting too big for his small-screen britches, but those people seriously have too much time on their hands. Anyway he's on the cover of this month's Esquire and that's why we're here rambling; hit the jumpfor the photos...

I'm Blue, Da Ba Dee Da Ba Di

I've been fairly whiny about wanting to see Blue Film -- writer-director Elliot Tuttle's thriller-of-sorts about a cam-boy (Boots star Kieron Moore) and the old dude (Reed Birney) who's obsessed with him -- for months now, ever since I missed it at NewFest in the fall. But my whine, on this single solitary subject mind you, has an expiration date -- the movie is out in theaters on May 8th and as seen above we've just gotten the first poster. And it came with a promise that the trailer's dropping tomorrow, which I will surely be posting about when it does.  For now let us just appreciate that poster, and the Kieron in tighty-whities contained therein.

I promised y'all yesterday when I posted that scorching and ginormous (seriously did you click on it? It gets real big) still photo of this scene from last night's Daredevil that I would bust out my gif-machine to gif the scene... and I am half keeping my promise. Because I made the above gif! And that's the true money shot in the scene. But I could and should make more but they're going to have to wait until I actually watch the episode tonight -- see I didn't realize they were dropping TWO episodes last night and my fragile self couldn't possibly stay up late enough to watch both. I'm no longer a frisky Freshmen, apple-cheeked and amazed at the world! In case you didn't notice that. Like, twenty-years-ago I wasn't that anymore. Anyway enjoy that gif and we'll just make it a week o' Cox -- who can argue with that? 

Super Mario Galaxy Movie in 200 Words or Less

My boyfriend and I have a running joke about how lesbian sex in the movies has long been reduced to two women holding their palms out flat toward the other's, hovering but not quite touching, which is to say that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hinges on incestual lesbian sex saving the universe. So that's something! Indeed that's the best thing I can say about this clashing cacophony of noise which has me pitying all the poor parents out there -- get ready to paint eyes onto your eyelids so the kids don't catch onto your snooze, Moms and Pops. The movie does unlock its honest end-game though, in that it really made me want to dig out my dusty Wii to play Super Mario Galaxy again -- this is nothing but an assemblage of dopamine signifiers for Mario-heads, lapsed or still running, with nary a thought thunk outside that sphere. There is a scene where I really thought the movie might reenact Raiders' infamous opening of the ark scene, just with Bones Ghosts melting Princess Peach's face off, but that sadly didn't come to pass -- like everything here, opportunities super smashed.

Who's a Good Boys

Despite all of the weird release delays I'm still so happy that A24 was the company that snapped up Harry Lighton's "dom-com" Pillion y'all. They're the best at ridiculous marketing gimmicks and without them selling this movie I'd never have gotten to own an orgy commemorative plate (see below) or a "Good Boys" candle as seen above, which they've just dropped the pre-order for on their site. And where would my life be without these things??? Anyway that delightful doggie candle is in honor of the movie hitting VOD today at last -- you can rent it right here. And if you happened to miss my review of my fourth favorite movie of 2025 one of the ten thousand other times that I posted it since seeing it at NYFF last fall, click here. In the email where A24 announced the VOD drop they also mention that the blu-ray for Pillion is coming soon -- I do hope they consider a 4K disc! -- and surely I'll scream about that when the time comes, too. I been Pillion-pilled!!!

Well Disney definitely knows who they're courting with tonight's new episode of Daredevil! They released a handful of new images from the second episode today and uhh obviously we're fixated on this one of Charlie Cox here -- I really can't imagine why. If you care about the others, none of which feature a half-naked Charlie Cox, you can see them at this link, but why bother? You're sold, right? You're already sold. So just sit and stare at this one until the new episode is on. And I guess I should boot up the old gif-maker for tomorrow...
