Today's Fanboy Delusion

 Today I'd rather be...

... interrogated by Aldis Hodge.

That is a scene from Aldis' new series Cross which was 100% not on my radar until this video crossed my social media path (via) and uhh I think I might be watching this show now.

Paul Mescal Two Times

Oh goodness! Paul, you utter scamp. These pictures are for something called Hollywood Authentic magazine which I've never heard of until now but I'll be gosh-darned if these photos didn't get me bookmarking them immediately! There are a slew more photos at the link along with an interview -- I'm just sharing the two most important-to-me photos but if Paul mounting a big beautiful filly is your cuppa you'll wanna be clicking over.

Heading Toward Bluer Skies

Grégoire Colin in Beau Travail should become the official beefcake pin-up for the social media network Bluesky don't you think? When I picture a blue sky I picture this shot of him from that movie, anyway. Just me? Anyway I just wanted to take this moment of buzz for Bluesky to remind y'all that I am on there too -- you can follow me right here. There's been a huge influx of people escaping Twitter this week which is super understandable given Elon Musk being a fascist piece of shit who helped steal the U.S. election for a Nazi. I've long been a Twitter addict and I've got years and years worth of nonsense compiled on there so I don't know that I'll ever delete my account fully but I have been posting on Bluesky much much more since the election and can foresee myself migrating over there for the most part eventually, especially now that there are more people popping up to talk to. So if you're looking for a non-toxic alternative, get it while it's hot! I don't know how long they can keep the good vibes going but right now it's a little wonderland. And as usual you can find all of my social media accounts and other spots where I be writing in the right-hand comlumn or on Linktree

What movie is this?

Good Morning, World

Earlier this week when my tweet about People's Sexiest Man Alive pick getting usurped by the men of Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue went viral the most common source of outrage was the lack of Manny Jacinto anywhere, which yeah, duh! So here is some fresh Manny to sate our thirsts until everybody gets their shit together and starts giving this many the proper sexy respect he deserves. These are from some movie called Balestra -- you can watch the trailer right here -- but I must admit I honestly have no idea where or how you can watch this. I swiped these gifs off of Tumblr. But maybe Paramount+? I don't have that streamer so I can't say for sure. But anyway -- Manny? Manny for all the prizes.

The Sexy Man...

... to end all sexy men has entered.

Which is Hotter?

John Krasinski was named People's "Sexiest Man Alive" today and actual real live people seemed to be like, "... Huh?" Myself included. While I think the man has had his moments over the years I've soured on him since his shitty overrated and deeply conservative Quiet Place movies came out and, in their wake, so too did some stories about him being a shitty egomaniac. Anyway I now have a hit tweet...

... pointing out that Vanity Fair totally stole People's thunder today with their incredibly hot batch of menfolk prancing about for the annual "Hollywood Issue" and so a path forward seem to've presented itself! There are actually rumors going around that one of those VF men, the probable most likely alternative choice,  Mr. Glen Powell of the film Twisters, smartly turned People's title down. So let's slap the two of them in the face with our big poll and see who comes on top, then!

Slip a Little Something in Our Coinslot

This post is going to be real orphan clanging his empty food bowl on the cement as he coughs a necrotic rattle so I will temper that with a wee flavor of Paul Mescal's All of Us Strangers sexiness -- just last week I told y'all I would be piling a bunch of shit onto eBay over the weekend. Well I did. It just took me into Monday to get it done so I am re-reminding. Click here to see what I've got for sale -- it really does include some proper fantasticos (like All of Us Strangers for one -- see, it all comes together) and you should buy some stuff from me. On that same note (of beggary) if you look over into the right-hand column in the "Support MNPP" section near the top I have added a blue "Paypal Subscribe" button, which will allow you to donate five bucks to the site monthly. I didn't whip this up on my own -- a generous reader wanted a way to do this so I made it possible. As always there's the other Donate button too, which allows for whatever coinage you can spare. Or just read for free! I'm not making anybody feel guilty for that -- I don't know you or your situation. I just want to continue doing my monkey dance to entertain y'all and so I shall, but any donations are always greatly and profoundly appreciated.

Paul Mescal Six Times

I have to give credit to the magazines of the world today -- they saw our hearts were hurting and we were in need and they replied with Glen Powell in a mesh shirt and this photo-shoot of Paul Mescal for Variety magazine. (Although do note my noted avoidance of People's "Sexiest man Alive" nonsense -- noted!) Paul is playing the romantic dreamboat role perfectly in these photos (what a shocker) so put down a pillow, hit the jump and swoon with us...

What movie is this?

Nobody guessed this yesterday!
So here are five more frames:

Can you guess the movie now?

Pics of the Day

The new issue of the annual Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue is here, which always gives our favorite hot young things a chance to mingle in fun behind-the-scenes snaps.... and which has brought us the above moment between Jonathan Bailey and Josh O'Connor and I'm just about done for the day, how about y'all? Here's the full cover:

(click to embiggen) And good for Nicole Kidman slamming her way into the center of the front flap (that phrase feels wrong) all these many many decades into her esteemed career -- having now seen Babygirl I get it! Not that I ever stopped loving Nic, but Babygirl has the makings of a hit if they're smart about it. Harris Dickinson's reading of "Good girl" will probably (and should) be the line of the year if they do. (And Harris should've made the cover too dammit.) Anyway!

These two fucking photos of Glen Powell!

A mesh shirt? That hair and those glasses?
Were they actually actively trying to kill me?

Whoever took these photos really went for it and we applaud them. You can see them all at this link, which further links to the invidividual interviews, but I've got all the photos of note right here after the jump...

Good Morning, World

I am waiting for my man and his name is Arnaud Valois!
Good goddamn Arnaud what you doing to us??? (via)

Yura Borisov One Time

I remain deeply mixed with regards to Anora, but not with regards to Yura! We demand Yura in everything! I'd be fine with Mikey Madison being Oscar nominated but I would be ecstatic if he got in. When I reviewed the Finnish Oscar nominee Compartment No. 6 back in 2022 I called Yura "a moody revelation" and he's now fully established himself as an obsession. What an actor.

We All Go a Little Maddin Some TImes

Heads up -- or I suppose in this context great big throbbing forest brains up! Guy Maddin's latest wackadoo movie Rumours, which stars Cate Blanchett, Denis Ménochet, Alicia Vikander, and several other international actors of note, is now available to rent! Click here to do so. It is as I have said several times this year the funniest movie I've watched in 2024 and honestly after last week's election it seems even more meaningful. I think it will land differently, watching it now, than it did back when I was a person who had "hope" inside of me. We'll see because I'm dying to re-watch myself. Here is my Pajiba review of the film from when it screened at NYFF in October. Oh and it's also getting a blu-ray release in January -- pre-order it here if that interests you. This movie might just turn out to be the most prophetic movie of our time which uhhh is terrifying.

Good Morning, Jude Law

Our good boy Jude has a couple of movies out this fall -- there's The Order, his FBI versus the white supremiscists thriller (co-starring Nicky Hoult) from Snowtown and True History of the Kelly Gang director Justin Kurzel, and he has Eden, Ron Howard's film telling the true (weird, very weird) story of a group of bohemians and scientists clashing in the Galapagos in the 1920s. I have seen both of these movies, and they are both totally solid entertainments -- from Kurzel, who I revere, a "totally solid entertainment" is less than what I expect. While from Howard it's the opposite since I generally think he's become a terrible director. So a "totally solid entertainment" from him is a step up!

Either way they're both serious adult movies worth watching, although I doubt they'll make much of a splash in the current entertainment landscape -- well except for Jude showing his dick in Eden. There have already been headlines about that! Anyway point being Jude has stuff coming out (heh, indeed) so he's on the cover of British GQ this month and these are the photos. I haven't read the interview yet so I don't know if he talks about them, if he talks about his penis, or what. So I did it for him. You're welcome, Jude. Hit the jump for the photos...

A Jonathan Bailey Moment of Zen

Ahhhhhhhhhh that's the ticket.

Burn Penguin Burn

Any watchers of The Penguin up in here?  I wasn't a fan of The Batman movie at all (here is my review) but I love love loved this spin-off series, which added all the pizzazz that that humorless slog was missing thanks to Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti devouring everything in sight as Oz Cobb and his challenger, the mafioso maniac Sofia Falcone respectively. Actually the entire cast was terrific -- the literal second that character actress Deirdre O'Connell popped up as Oz's mother I knew I was in good hands.

And the show didn't waste her! Usually she gets to shine in the teeniest of roles and then vanish, but The Penguin gave her a shit-ton to do and per usual she knocked it all out of the park. But keep looking at the other actors on board -- Clancy Brown, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Scott Cohen, Carmen Ejogo, Michael Zegen, Michael Kelly, Rhenzy Feliz (who broke my heart), Mark Strong, Theo Rossi...

... and hellooooo Theo Rossi. It's a fucking who's-who of under-appreciated character actors, though. Oh and a special shout-out to the kid actor Ryder Allen who played Young Oz in flashbacks -- he rocked his every scene.

So good. The show somehow managed to  straddle the line between being too comic-booky and not comic-booky enough (a la the Nolan movies). I know everybody else brought up The Sopranos and it very clearly was what it was going for but I was having so much fun with it I couldn't even hold that against it. Without getting into spoilers I really hope there's a second season because I doubt a sequel to The Batman would have much time for  some of The Penguin's side-characters and I need to see them again! So tell me: any fans?

Pics of the Day

The new Disney+ version of Daredevil doesn't return until March 4th of next year but that hasn't stopped the studio from trotting their gorgeous perfect magnificent and exquisite leading man Charlie Cox out all over the globe -- this weekend he and Vincent D'Onofrio were in brazil for their Disney Expo showing off some stuff. First and foremost Charlie's arms, Charlie's smile, Charlie's scruff. Charlie, Charlie, Charlie. (Also his outfit is literally perfect as well.) Listen I am just trying to provide some dumb distraction here and working with what I got. So enjoy a few more photos of Charlie being literally perfect Charlie after the jump...
