Arnaud Valois Sixteen Times

The ever-reliable folks at Behind the Blinds magazine coming through again with a sexy photo-shoot of one of our under-loved faves -- this time it's French actor Arnaud Valois, last seen romancing a sad-eyed Dan Levy in Good Grief and currently seen in the Karl Lagerfeld miniseries Becoming Karl Lagerfeld alongside MNPP faves Daniel Brühl and Théodore Pellerin...

...  and how in the hell have I not watched this series yet? I gotta push it on up the list. Are any of you more on it and already watching it? Anyway we've loved Arnaud since the masterpiece B.P.M. and we're happy he keeps getting work we wanna watch. Read the chat over at their website here, or just hit the jump for all of these hella fine photos...

Femme For Home

Excellent news for physical media lovers who also happen to like seeing actors George Mackay and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett have lots of gay sex -- their queer thriller Femme, about a drag queen getting complicated (and sexy) revenge on the closet-case who bashed him, is getting a proper beautiful blu-ray release thanks to Vinegar Syndrome! Click here and you can pre-order the movie right now -- VS usually takes a couple of months to ship things so I can't give a proper "release date" but when you get it eventually it'll be worth it as they really do their movies up proper. Here is my review of the movie -- I knew I'd eventually have a movie where I'm quoted in the trailer get onto VS and today is that day! As a rabid physical media nerd this brings me a fresh kind of joy. Anyway this movie is terrific, MNPP recommended!

What movie is this?

Good Morning, World

Happy Monday from, firstly, me, and secondly Paul Mescal's rippling muscles via the first official photos of him in the Gladiator sequel! My love to whomever's job it was to schedule the film's production who knew that they shoot Paul's shirtless scene right away so it can be among the first images released to sell the sucker. I have extremely mixed hopes for this movie -- I have liked exactly one Ridley Scott movie in the past 30 years and it's The Counselor, aka the one everybody else hated. And I especially hate the original Gladiator film. Ugh, crap. But I do love the cast that Ridley's assembled here so I guess we'll see. Anyway these photos come from Vanity Fair -- they've got a whole thing (I guess the word I am looking for there is "article" -- it's Monday morning, leave me be!) which I haven't read yet so let's go do that together. After we hit the jump and look at the photos anyway...

Let's Hear It For The Paperboy

Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman are reuniting in a movie for Netflix this weekend called A Family Affair, for the first time since Lee Daniels' The Paperboy in 2012... so naturally I had to write about The Paperboy. How could I not? Head on over to Mashable where I make the case in this movie's defense -- I genuinely think it's Daniels' best movie, and preciesly because of the way it deliberately wields camp. We should appreciate Daniels more dammit!

Good Morning, World

When I wrote up yesterday's post about Yorgos Lanthimos' new movie Bugonia -- read that right here -- I remembered that I had this photo of Yorgos himself baring some flesh in the 2010 movie Attenberg and how could I not post it? Our Yorgos crush runs deep. He shows even more skin in this movie (like, a lot more) but I'm saving that for the day I actually get around to watching this movie, which I have not yet. Anyone out there seen it? Anyway hi it's Thursday which means it's my last day of the work week before my Summer Friday and I just wanna get through today unscathed. Is that too much to ask? Probably! Let's go for it anyway.

Joe Keery Five Times

Ahhhhhh Joe Keery's chest hair is here to make the day just that little bit brighter -- blessings! The Stranger Things and Fargo hair-monster himself is on the cover of Wonderland magazine this month, and  you can read the chat over there. It's between Joe and his Fargo poppa Jon Hamm! Look at Wonderland, trying to steal the Interview Magazine thing. Anyway they don't stop the interview to tell us any filthy stories of daddy-son role-play from the set so the chat is not that special. The pictures are good though! Meaning I get to see his chest hair and his legs and he wears leather pants. That's good! Hit the jump for 'em all...

Black Bear (2020)

Allison: I figured if I never learn how to cook
then I would never become a housewife.

A happy 40th birthday to Aubrey Plaza today! I don't remember much about Black Bear except I liked it and Christopher Abbott was (per usual) sexy in it -- I should give it another watch. It is one of those movies that got lost in the pandemic (it premiered at Sundance in January of 2020, and then... well you know what "and then") and didn't get much attention after that. Anyway we love Aubrey, of course we do, but let's be real -- the real reason we're going out of our way to wish her a happy birthday today is so we can scream about John Waters' currently-in-the-air return to filmmaking -- he wants her to star in his adaptation of his book Liarmouth, and she wants to do it, but nobody's yet given them the budget to make it. This would be a killer birthday present for Aubrey! And for me too -- my birthday is in just a couple of weeks and this is also what I want!

Yorgos Has a Bugonia in His Bonnet

I had heard about Yorgos Lanthimos' next movie a full month ago but when new news on it dropped yesterday I realized I never posted about it -- I guess I was in the thick of the Tribeca Film Fest and forgot to. Anyway, said news -- his next movie is titled Bugonia and it is apparently a remake of the super psychotic 2003 South Korean eco-comedy Save the Green Planet! made originally by director Joon-Hwan Jang and starring the adorable Shin Ha-kyun (of Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance fame). I haven't seen that movie since it came out but I remember it being incredibly over-the-top and bizarre...

... it tells the story of a couple who kidnap a big fancy businessman, convinced he's an alien set out to kill the human race. From the description of Yorgos' take it sounds like some stuff's been changed -- the "couple" are now "two conspiracy obsessed young men" (no word on them being a couple or not) and the CEO is now a woman. And since Emma Stone is one of the two cast members we know about, it's probably safe to assume that will be her. The other name is Emma's Kinds of Kindness co-star Jesse Plemons, who's great in that movie (my review) and fits right into Yorgos-land so I'd expect them to work together often in the future. Anyway we also have a release date for the film -- November 7th 2025. So awhile! That'll be a big break in between Yorgos movies, given how piled on top of one another Poor Things and Kindness seemed to be. Anyway any new Yorgos is good news, huzzah!

Such Ungentlemanly Monkeys!

Two perfectly entertaining action movies starring way more than two perfectly hot men are hitting blu-ray today -- there is Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which stocks the majority of the hot men (what's new when it comes to Guy Ritchie) and there's Monkey Man, which was written and directed by and stars one Dev Patel, who is as seen above a factory of hotness unto himself within it. I don't think I properly reviewed either of these movies at length when they came out, but they're both good times worth watching and not just to stare at the hunks. But since we're here! Let's make a dumb poll out of staring at the hunks.

Pic of the Day

Unlike that massively photoshopped first image of David Corenswet as Superman that we got back in May here is out first image of him in his suit on the set (via), minus all of that over-done image-fuckery, and I like it! I like the big bright red briefs dammit! None of that dusty maroon shit that they kept foisting on us -- Superman's colors should be crayola blue and fire-engine-red. And needless to say Corenswet is looking gorgeous in the facial region. The suit is admittedly a little boxy -- it's not as skintight as what we've gotten used to -- but I am honestly okay with that. It looks like Superman to me and that's all we can hope for. ETA We've gotten some more photos (via) since the one above dropped, so hit the jump and I'll share those...

Triangle of Sadness (2022)

Carl: I love you, you give me fish.

A very happy 28th birthday to Harris Dickinson today! Hard to believe it's been 7 full years since I first saw him in Beach Rats, but he's easily proven himself to be one of the smartest and most capable (and yes hot as hell) actors of his generation in that time. I cannot wait to see what he's got ahead of him. Do make sure you dig deep into our seven years of Dickison archives -- we have been deeply and vigorously swooning this entire time!

Ye Ancient Vampyr Approacheth

It's here! The first teaser trailer for Roberts Eggers' Nosferatu has arrived -- I know it screened alongside The Bikeriders in theaters this past weekend and I was pretty tempted to go just for the trailer and then leave but I'm not that much of a crazy person. Not when it's over 90 degrees outside anyway. But this is my number one most anticipated movie of the rest of the year obviously -- I've been following Eggers' attempts at getting this made ever since I saw The Witch and learned who Robert Eggers was back in 2015 -- and this looks perfect, absolutely perfect. There's a mix of the Muranu's original film, there's some of Herzog going on, and a hefty dash of Francis Ford Coppola I'd say too!

But I think Eggers is a strong enough filmmaker to make this his own -- it's been his dream project since even before I knew who he was, after all. And he's got a maniacally sexy cast on hand with Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily Rose-Depp, and Willem Dafoe. This teaser is just under two minutes long and doesn't give much away save our first proper looks at many of the characters in movement -- except notably there is no direct look at Skarsgård's titular vamp. They be saving him! Anyway I won't be watching or posting any more trailers after this so enjoy this while you got it:

Nosferatu us out, hilariously, on Christmas Day! How merry!

ETA they also just dropped this new image of Nichols Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson looking goddamned spiffy (click to embiggen)
